It has been brought to my attention that my Handicap process was flawed. Upon discussions with my Handicap Software System, I found out that they don't support the Limit on Upward Movement of a Handicap. There is a Cap process with two trigger points:
1. The Soft Cap is triggered when the difference between a player's newly calculated Handicap and their Low Handicap Basis is greater than 3.0 strokes. If a 3.0 stroke increase takes place, the Soft Cap will slow any additional upward movement by 50%.
2. The Hard Cap triggers to restrict the amount by which a player's Handicap can increase. If a 5.0 stroke increase takes place, after the application of the Soft Cap, the Hard Cap will prevent any additional upward movement.
There is no limit on the amount by which a player's Handicap can decrease.
With this being said, the maximum Upward Movement of a Handicap for a 1-year period (2025 Season) is 5 strokes. There are four (4) league players who are affected by this USGA Rule. A revised Handicap Sheet has been uploaded, and it states the new Handicaps as well as the ones with Caps. These capped Handicaps will remain in place for the remainder for the season.
I wish to state my appreciation to Chris Hibberd for his initial discovery of this issue and his extensive input to correct the problem.
